Granular Urea (Iran)
White granular nitrogen fertilizer, at least 46% nitrogen, with full specification and test methods.
Overview
Granular urea is an organic compound with the formula CO(NH₂)₂. It is a white granular solid widely used as a nitrogen fertilizer. About 90% of world urea production goes to agriculture, and urea has the highest nitrogen content of any solid nitrogen fertilizer.
In soil, urea is hydrolyzed to ammonia and carbon dioxide. Soil bacteria oxidize the ammonia to nitrate, which plants take up. Urea dissolves readily in water, and the granular form is easier to distribute and spread than prilled urea, so it is preferred.
Production process
- Compression of ammonia and carbon dioxide
- Urea synthesis
- Rectifying and evaporation
- Granulation with urea formaldehyde
- Plant capacity: 2,000 tons of urea per day
Packaging
- 50 kg double-layer polypropylene bags, for domestic and export use.
- Jumbo bags of 1,200 kg (1.2 tons): large industrial bags.
- Bulk: carried by ship or bulk trucks.
Export terms
- FCA at the production complex.
- FOB and CFR through Imam Khomeini Port.
