Overview
Emulsion bitumen is a two-phase system of bitumen, water and additives that help form and stabilise the emulsion and adjust its properties. It is very versatile for road construction and industrial use.
Currently, cationic rapid-setting emulsion is the most widely used type in the country because it dries quickly and bonds strongly.
Groups and setting speeds
- Cationic binders: preferred for better adhesion.
- Anionic surfactants.
- Non-ionic surfactants.
- Clay-based stabilizers.
- RS (rapid-setting): surface treatments and road sealing.
- MS (medium-setting): mixing with aggregates for paving.
- SS (slow-setting): slurry sealing and soil stabilisation.
