Overview
Growing traffic and varied loading led engineers to grade bitumen by performance. The US Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) defined the PG system. The Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR) test, standardised as AASHTO M 332, refined AASHTO M 320. The result is branded PLUS PG.
PLUS PG is formulated to suit the traffic a road will carry, for longer-lasting, more resilient pavements, and is widely used in developed countries.
